The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) granted license no. TIS. 2377-2551 for rubber flooring products (futsal court) to Satun Rubber Fund Cooperative LTD, on September 12, 2016. The PSU Natural Rubber Innovation Research Institute cooperated with the Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP), TISI, and Satun Rubber Fund Cooperative LTD to promote and design the rubber flooring prototype. Mr. Chaloemkiart Chuaysang, responsible for the PSU Rubber Innovation Research and Development Project, coordinated the required research and processing for over a year, to ensure that the product passes the governmental procurement process and gets certified by ISO.
Assoc. Prof. Azizon Kaesaman, Director of the PSU Natural Rubber Innovative Research Institute, mentioned that natural rubber is a raw material that can be used for a wide range of products, including rubber flooring, praying mats, pillows, cushions, playground equipment and futsal court flooring. The director recommended that the government promote and support farmers and entrepreneurs both academically and technologically in all processes, such as factory setup, machinery, production line etc., with a particular focus on community enterprises. Training on standardization, design, packaging and marketing should also be provided in order to support the expansion of the rubber products sector.
The rubber processing plant and rubber products of Satun Rubber Fund Cooperative LTD represent an exemplary achievement by a group of innovative farmers trying to solve the problem of falling rubber prices, by successfully producing rubber flooring for futsal courts for the five PSU campuses and some schools.
