HRH Princess Chulabhorn Walailuk Delights Audience

Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailuk brought great honor to PSU by delivering a graceful performance on the guzheng—an ancient Chinese stringed instrument—at the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne International Convention Center, on August 24, 2012. HRH’s playing of the Chin Dynasty instrument was part of the 5th "Two Lands One Heart" musical and cultural exchange that celebrates Thailand's friendship with the People's Republic of China. China's Culture Ministry and the Chulabhorn Research Institute take turns hosting the annual musical exchange program.

Her Royal Highness, accompanied by the Royal Thai Navy Orchestra, performed the songs "Xi" ("Yesterday"), "Man Ywei" ("Full Moon"), "Spring River in the Moonlight", "Luo Hua Fei" ("Falling Flowers"), "Lonely Night", "Moonlight Lake", "Perfect", "Missing", "Ri Luo Zhi Lian" ("Love at Sundown"), and "Zhong-Tai Yi Jia Qin" ("Two Lands One Heart"). The program also featured cultural performances selected by HRH: dancers from Thailand's Fine Arts Department; a women’s dance troupe from Shanghai; and acrobats from Guangzhou.

Income received from the performance will benefit the Princess Mother’s Volunteer Foundation (PMMV), which supports ailing, impoverished Thais in 34 provinces.

The evening enchanted the audience and demonstrated once again that Thailand and China are truly “Two Lands One Heart”.
