Consul General of Malaysia Honors PSU

On April 22, 2013, Mr. Mohd Faizal Razali, Consul General of Malaysia, accompanied by Mr. Mohd Rozaimi Bin Harun, Consul I, and Ms. Jureerat Meakarat, Secretary, from the Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla, made a courtesy call on the PSU President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul. The objectives of his visit were to introduce himself to the PSU leadership, as he just assumed this position in January 2013, and to discuss future possible cooperation among Malaysian and Thai institutions toward ASEAN Economic Community.

Our distinguished guests were also welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chutamas Satasook, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, Vice President for Planning and Finance, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ram Yamsangsung, Assistant President for International Affairs, and representatives from the PSU International Affairs Office.

After a short PSU video presentation, all participants took part to animated discussions regarding the actual and future collaborations of PSU with Malaysian academic institutions, and the Consulate's kind assistance to strengthen these friendships, as well as to support PSU for the establishment of the Malaysian Language Center in Hat Yai Campus.

Mr. Mohd Faizal Razali expressed his wish of fostering even a more strong cooperation between Thailand and Malaysia as neighboring countries and members of ASEAN. One area for PSU to develop more cooperation with Malaysia in the near future is the Halal Food, since at PSU the study and research in this field are quite strong. Moreover, he added that this cooperation can also strengthen the Malaysia-Thailand Halal Business Association established on February 23, 2013.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul uttered our university wish of reinforcing and expanding the student exchanges with Malaysian universities, which will benefit both countries. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chutamas Satasook mentioned that PSU is looking forward to increasing the graduate exchange programs with credits transfer, as well as developing job trainings for PSU students in Malaysia, and joint conferences with Malaysian counterparts.
