Prof. Dr. Zaid Eyadat, Dean of Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II School of International Studies, The University of Jordan (UJ), visited Prince of Songkla University (PSU) from June 3-4, 2014. Our visitor was accompanied by Mr. Dhiravat Bhumichitr, Director of Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand and his team.
On June 4, our distinguished guest visited PSU Hat Yai Campus and had a fruitful discussion with the PSU administrative team led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul, PSU President. On June 3, he visited PSU Pattani Campus and met the administrative team led by Asst. Prof. Sompong Thongpong, Vice President for Pattani Campus, and Dr. Yusof Talek, Director of the PSU College of Islamic Studies.
During his visit, Prof. Dr. Zaid Eyadat discussed the possible future collaborations between The University of Jordan and PSU, including PSU students to study at UJ for one semester or one year, UJ’s assistance in establishing the PSU Arabic Testing and Training Center and to develop the Middle East Studies curriculum in order to establish a Middle East Study Center at PSU. Prof. Zaid suggested focusing our initial collaboration on areas such as exchange programs under the MOU signed on March 23, 2014, and assistance with the inception of the Arabic Testing and Training Center, since UJ has a standardized test for Arabic languages.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul expressed our university’s wish of humbly inviting H.M. Abdullah II IBN Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to preside over the Opening Ceremony of the 3rd International Islamic Studies Conference to be held in March 2015 at PSU Pattani Campus, as well as to be the Honorable Keynote Speaker for this event. Moreover, H.M. visit will be a great occasion for PSU to bestow upon H.M. the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Political Science, already announced during the PSU 2013 Convocation Ceremony.
Moreover, Prof. Zaid gave a lecture to the graduate students and lecturers from PSU Pattani Campus, and visited a Muslim Community in Tambon Pak Bang. He also visited the PSU Biodiesel Plant and Traditional Thai Medicine Hospital located on Hat Yai Campus.
