A delegation from PSU's Educational Services Division visited Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) in Chiang Mai Province from January 22-24, 2015. Delegation members, led by Division Director Mr. Daeng Chomthong, participated in meetings and events designed to learn about best practices and successful projects and activities from the related MFU offices, while also sharing their own experiences and fostering collaboration between the two institutions.
Within the framework of this study visit, representatives of PSU International Affairs Office were warmly welcomed by Ms. Nuya Leewanich, Head of MFU International Affairs Division, and team. After a concise introduction of the university, the MFU International Affairs team shared their experiences regarding formulating strategies for managing international staff, recruiting international students and coordinating international projects among various faculties.
Of particular interest to PSU was MFU's high level of commitment towards increasing the quantity and quality of English-language proficiency on campus - a goal currently high on PSU's own agenda. In return, the PSU International Affairs team shared experiences regarding international publication management and social media strategies. Common areas of interest, such as Erasmus Mundus applications, ASEAN integration and academic networking, were also discussed.
The study tour also included visits to cultural landmarks of northern Thailand, including the famous Wat Rong Khun (the white temple) in Chiang Rai, and the Royal Bhubing Palace in Chiang Mai.
Overall, this study visit successfully fulfilled its objective of gaining new ideas that will enhance the various workflows and teamwork at PSU's Educational Services Division. Furthermore, the networking contacts made with MFU's staff will pave the road for future collaborations between the two universities. We thank Mae Fah Luang University staff for the warm welcome and informative exchange.
